UNITED SKATES OF AMERICA

There were two rollerskating rinks near my childhood home on Long Island: Hot Skates and United Skates of America. As many rinks have shuttered around New York City and the country, these two spots are still kicking. What's more, it appears that legendary DJ/producer/Madonna's boyfriend Jellybean Benitez JUST DJed at United Skates! A little frustrating cuz I invited Jellybean to come DJ in downtown Manhattan not too long ago but hey - I guess he likes keeping his old school crowd happy. And speaking of old school, United Skates still has adult skate nights on Mondays. 18 and over. Party bus anyone?
