I've been two weeks behind on the new music front thanks to my west coast drag detour in San Francisco. Now that I've given Janet Jackson's Discipline the attention it deserves, I can confidently say that it doesn't suck. Most notably, Miss Jackson and her hubby have jumped on the Daft Punk sampling bandwagon (see Kanye West, Bustah Rhymes) with their own take on Daftendirekt.
Daftendirekt was once a three minute introduction to the then unknown duo on their 1997 debut album Homework. Like most other people, you probably skipped over it or thought they were mumbling something in French like "le fe-ouvac tu dipan, comment". I did. Turns out they're saying "da funk back to the punk, come on." You show 'em, Janet.

i agree that the album is pretty good. i do have a love/hate thing with all her damn interludes, though- every album of hers has too goddamn many.
