REPLANTED AND UPROOTED

Walked by Hanger Bar on e. 3rd st. last week to find newspapers taped over the windows of the now-defunct watering hole. Once called Hanger Bar & Boutique, this place once sold vintage clothes on racks beneath the bar along the wall so one could shop it up as he/she boozed it up. More recently, it was the perfect quiet spot for weekend drinks if you could tolerate bartenders' bad attitudes.

Hanger Bar will always have a soft spot in my heart for its meager attempts at living up to the DJ line-ups that had come to define the space's predecessor, Plant Bar. Plant was the offspring of a Saturday night Centrofly (R.I.P.) party, which brought in such great DJs as Disco D (R.I.P.). Hanger had its fair share of parties (I saw Paul Devro DJ here with the Captain, as well Cameron and Keehnan, whose Boycore event morphed into a Thursday party.) R.I.P. Hanger Bar.
