NO LATE NIGHT PIZZA TONIGHT

Much to my dismay, Nino's Pizza on the corner of St. Marks Pl. and Avenue A, aka the best pizza on earth (after Grimaldi's) which only gets better as the evening get later, has been temporarily shuttered by the health department. The note on the door says there's a "permit problem," though judging from the bright closure notice and Nino's lack of a liquor license, I'm guessing it has something to do with cleanliness. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, cupids and hearts surround the notice, as if to say "Happy Valentine's Day, Love the Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene."
