GOOD TIMES: 4TH (!) ANNUAL NITE OF DEEE-LITE

Shortly after I returned from Spain with a bundle of new freckles and a renewed energy for my weekly Wednesday Good Times party at Eastern Bloc, me and my DJ crush Michael Magnan took to the decks last Wednesday for our fourth annual Nite of Deee-Lite. And as usual, it was just as deee-lovely as ever (except for my missing camera battery charger, hence the weird photos from my backup camera, which has not the best flash).

Early in the evening, my non-twin (though he has been called my twin in the past by others) Jayme dropped in to catch all the beginnings of my deee-groovey set, which included the slowest and most sumptuous song, What Is Love?

Dandy had been busy readying a new mix, a new mash-up and prepping for his Marinate party this past Sunday (every second Sunday at Eastern Bloc) but found time to come by and say hey gurl hey!

Ryan, looking deep into Supa DJ Dmitry's eyes. (Yes, Ryan has x-ray vision and can see past those sunglasses. Hell, I will not be surprised if Ryan starts DJing with Dmitry in Berlin by this time next year.)

Former club kid Peter (right) came through not only to hear some Bittersweet Lovin' but to sound off on his own and my own bittersweet lovin' situations of late. Someone needs to get this one an advice column. Or a Delilah-like radio show.

Sheki (left, with John and Alon) bucked the tank top trend of this summer by opting for a long-sleeved button down in the mid fucking August. He's a rebel and we love him so!

Double trouble. Or, to quote another favorite Deee-Lite song of the evening, "call me, call me."

Tens across for the board for these two.

Jesse (right) explained how he chose to forego his Brooklyn DJ pursuits in exchange for some more schooling, to which a friend walked up to him and exclaimed, "you used to do that party at Union Pool? That party was awesome!"

Good Times loves a double dose of Polly Pockets.

Party Happenin' People!

That perma-smile that you get when Michael Magnan comes on the decks and proceeds to play nothing but Deee-Lite for two hours straight followed by the hottest Dai Burger song you've ever heard.

Xander was NOT having the new camera. In fact, without even letting him know we had switched cameras, we snapped this photo with an awkwardly spaced double flash and he remarked, WHAT CAMERA IS THIS?! I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CAMERA CHANGES!

Then we kiki-ed upstairs and downstairs and all was good in the world. All was also very good with Jamil's (right) new 'do.

This one camped out by the corner of the bar and huffed his own poppers the ENTIRE night, which was pretty fucking major.

And work and serve and huh huh honey.

Apparently he was not too enthused by the new camera either but we sure were enthused by him.

As one of the Eastern Bloc owners who was not involved scandalizing tabloid headlines this week, Darren tended to the and showed off an even buffer bod in anticipation of his end-of-August visit to Ibiza. (Next year, take the Eastern Bloc staff with you! Company holiday = morale booster, right?)

Proving that I can post unflattering photos of me for the sake of our long lost Good Times family members who haven't shown face around here in eons.

We were not mad at these two French Canadian cuties in the white hats and neither was Rico (center) as you can tell by his smirky side-eye. GET IT GWURL.

Music selector is the soul reflector, especially when the selector is guest DJ Michael Magnan.

Magnan mugged for the camera kind of in front of my two Deee-Lite posters and Deee-Lite 12-inch collection which was off to the left. And to answer the questions that kept coming in last Wednesday, yes, they're original.

In my warped lookalike mind, I saw a striking resemblance between Frank (left, who's packin' it in and leaving his long-time NYC apartment. Don't go!) and Mark even though I don't think anyone else saw. Then again, it was late and I had had a few vodkas sodas.

Though it was pretty much last call (and our last chance to play ESP and What is Love yet again), both Antonio (left) and Telfar rolled through on the late side so there was actually a good excuse to stick around and booze it up.

You never know when a handsome Spaniard like Cristobal is going to roll through either. Viva Deee-Lite! See you next week when me and guest DJ Marcus Wilson aka DJ Porq (of Comeback and Pony fame in Seattle) take to the decks. Till then. xx, Sparber

GOOD TIMES: NEW MUSIC EXPRESS

As much as we love our world-renowned guest DJs at our weekly Wednesday Good Times party at Eastern Bloc, we equally love showcasing the new talent we've come across here in New York and abroad. Three weeks ago, we invited baby DJ Joey Trotto to come guest with us as we did our usual Wednesday night thing with a special nod toward the first record release of our buddies Undercover. I think the good times pretty much speak for themselves.

Behold newbie DJ Joey Trotto! I think this was Joey's third ever nightlife DJ gig and all his prepping and practicing paid off because he absolutely KILLED IT.

Billy and his bunheads. (Confession: I don't even know what a bunhead is but I know there's a TV show about it so maybe its just girls with buns like this that like to dance and party? One can hope.)

I actually took off for a road trip across Spain right after this party, hence the delay in posting these photos and why I don't remember much about this party. But on the bright side, I'm now nearly as dark as Marques in this here photo. Come see for yourself!

Undercover frontman Greg (left) came out to celebrate the release of Undercover's debut album, though the other half of the musical duo was mysteriously absent, forcing our buddy Scott S. (right) to step in for all Undercover promotional photo shots.

One of my favorite things about my travels this summer has been coming back to my party and catching up with my favorite New York City party people (Kevin, right) and former New York friends who have moved away but come back to get their annual NYC recharge (Michael D., left).

Boys of Summer.

Enthused about our weekly $1 vodkas special from 11 - 1130pm as usual. I mean, how do you beat 30 minutes of unlimited $1 vodkas. (Answer: open bar, but technically that's illegal here in NYC. Wah wahh.)

Joey T. (left, with Eddie) on the ones and twos.

The only thing better than an early night cameo by a bearded (!) One-Half Nelson is an appearance by Nelson and his real life sister!

Me and Michael D., the only resident of Mumbai that DISLIKES Bollywood soundtracks.

Adam was giving a white, sleeveless mesh cardigan effect that night, which only he can pull off with those tasty tattoos and bleached out hair.

Pensively contemplating whether or not it is time to hit the dancefloor. The answer is that its ALWAYS time to hit the dancefloor.

Ma boyzzzzz. I have known these four for many many years and I hope to know them for many many more.

Edwin (right) has become an uncover host for our weekly Wednesday party, covertly promoting for us across social networking platforms, especially when our guests his downtown favorites such as Michael Magnan, who joins us for our Fourth Annual (!) Nite of Deee-Lite at the next Good Times on Wednesday, August 8.

That look of I-don't-really-want-to-be-photographed-right-now-but-I'll-play-along-with-it-because-I'm-drunk, which we usually get on a weekly basis. (In every photo.)

Oops! This isn't quite the Habibi party but we love burkas and burka-inspired looks nonetheless.

This dude on the right literally turned up at every party I attended this particular week, from Sunday night / Monday morning at Berghain (Berlin) to Good Times to Ryan Smith and Ron Like Hell's Wrecked party that Saturday. I lived.

A game we like to play host to called Does it Taste Like Ginger?

He is wearing a Fleetwood Mac tour shirt and therefore, he is my everything. Speaking of which, Fleetwood Mac tour 2013! Who's going with me?

Jamil Labeija was giving high-waisted pinstripes and a neon top and couldn't get over Joey's set either. We actually couldn't believe that he played Women Beat Their Men since Michael Magnan pretty much owns that track but we weren't mad at it either.

We love a DJ booth groupie.

Even tough this one doesn't need to be censored, I'm censoring it anyway so that the powers that be at Facebook don't give me das boot unnecessarily (go to twerking.com for the uncensored version). That said, these are three of my favorite people of all time ever: (from left) Andrew, Solie and Contessa aka Cuntmafia.

Peak-a-boob.

Rikki and Mark are giving the most major May-December relationship since Courtney Stodden & Doug Hutchison.

DANCE PARTY USA.

Loving so many things about this picture, especially the length of his sleeve.

I really hope this photo makes it onto the cover of a niche porn DVD in the near or distant future.

And then the real porn began.

Pretty sure that this one sandwiched in the middle between Aly and Andrew was 21 years old and straight and had never experienced anything on par to Good Times in his life. He also bears a striking resemblance to former Good Times frequenter David Davis.

I am sad that I haven't spent as much time on Fire Island with Jeff (right) or in clubs with Maddox (left) as I would have liked to this summer. But then again, there's always the autumn. And winter. And spring.

New York nightlife muse Jordan Fox (left) has been turning out the most mind-blowing looks ever since I first encountered him at another weekly I once did called Twin Cheeks. I am so happy to hear he is being flown to Japan or wherever nowadays so that the rest of the world can appreciate his talents.

Take it to the runway!

Sideline runway shows, courtesy of Contessa.

We actually thought Chaz (right, with Matt) had relocated to Berlin a long long time ago (he isn't on Facebook so we have a harder time stalking this one). Apparently we were wrong.

Daniel (left) and Max (right) headed straight from their flight from London to Good Times to have a drink or five with us. Later that week, they joined DJ Lina (pictured on Gabriel's shirt) out on Fire Island and pretty much gagged when they saw Gabriel wearing a Lina shirt.

LOVE THANG!

Joey even had his own entourage in the DJ booth to keep things cunt as the night wore on.

Good Times staffers Rob (left) and Darren, who we hear is making a special circuit appearance in Ibiza later this month. Keep your eyes peeled!

Greg and upcoming guest Good Times DJ Sexy Mikey. That's right: he's finally putting his good tunes to use and will one day etch out a place for listenable music on the circuit.

The prettiness that is Ramon, Solie and Damian (from left). Pretty sure Damian convinced me to play my staple Oni Ayhun track, OAR003-B, which always gets Damian going on a tech house runway tip.

BOOT SHOWS, posted solely for the viewing pleasure of Michael T.

LAST CALL!

Santi is giving beard shows like none other this summer. I'll be giving DJ shows of my own at next week's Fourth Annual Nite of Deee Lite Good Times at Eastern Bloc, and then again on Sunday at Rich King's Sunday situation at The Monster.

Till then, thanks to everyone who came as well as DJ Will, Jeff Chatterton and Rod Thomas, who filled in for me while I was lost in Spain. See you next week! xo, Sparber
