As much as we love our world-renowned guest DJs at our weekly Wednesday Good Times party at Eastern Bloc, we equally love showcasing the new talent we've come across here in New York and abroad. Three weeks ago, we invited baby DJ Joey Trotto to come guest with us as we did our usual Wednesday night thing with a special nod toward the first record release of our buddies Undercover. I think the good times pretty much speak for themselves.
Behold newbie DJ Joey Trotto! I think this was Joey's third ever nightlife DJ gig and all his prepping and practicing paid off because he absolutely KILLED IT.
Billy and his bunheads. (Confession: I don't even know what a bunhead is but I know there's a TV show about it so maybe its just girls with buns like this that like to dance and party? One can hope.)
I actually took off for a road trip across Spain right after this party, hence the delay in posting these photos and why I don't remember much about this party. But on the bright side, I'm now nearly as dark as Marques in this here photo. Come see for yourself!
Undercover frontman Greg (left) came out to celebrate the release of Undercover's debut album, though the other half of the musical duo was mysteriously absent, forcing our buddy Scott S. (right) to step in for all Undercover promotional photo shots.
One of my favorite things about my travels this summer has been coming back to my party and catching up with my favorite New York City party people (Kevin, right) and former New York friends who have moved away but come back to get their annual NYC recharge (Michael D., left).
Boys of Summer.
Enthused about our weekly $1 vodkas special from 11 - 1130pm as usual. I mean, how do you beat 30 minutes of unlimited $1 vodkas. (Answer: open bar, but technically that's illegal here in NYC. Wah wahh.)
Joey T. (left, with Eddie) on the ones and twos.
The only thing better than an early night cameo by a bearded (!) One-Half Nelson is an appearance by Nelson and his real life sister!
Me and Michael D., the only resident of Mumbai that DISLIKES Bollywood soundtracks.
Adam was giving a white, sleeveless mesh cardigan effect that night, which only he can pull off with those tasty tattoos and bleached out hair.
Pensively contemplating whether or not it is time to hit the dancefloor. The answer is that its ALWAYS time to hit the dancefloor.
Ma boyzzzzz. I have known these four for many many years and I hope to know them for many many more.
Edwin (right) has become an uncover host for our weekly Wednesday party, covertly promoting for us across social networking platforms, especially when our guests his downtown favorites such as Michael Magnan, who joins us for our Fourth Annual (!) Nite of Deee-Lite at the next Good Times on Wednesday, August 8.
That look of I-don't-really-want-to-be-photographed-right-now-but-I'll-play-along-with-it-because-I'm-drunk, which we usually get on a weekly basis. (In every photo.)
Oops! This isn't quite the Habibi party but we love burkas and burka-inspired looks nonetheless.
This dude on the right literally turned up at every party I attended this particular week, from Sunday night / Monday morning at Berghain (Berlin) to Good Times to Ryan Smith and Ron Like Hell's Wrecked party that Saturday. I lived.
A game we like to play host to called Does it Taste Like Ginger?
He is wearing a Fleetwood Mac tour shirt and therefore, he is my everything. Speaking of which, Fleetwood Mac tour 2013! Who's going with me?
Jamil Labeija was giving high-waisted pinstripes and a neon top and couldn't get over Joey's set either. We actually couldn't believe that he played Women Beat Their Men since Michael Magnan pretty much owns that track but we weren't mad at it either.
We love a DJ booth groupie.
Even tough this one doesn't need to be censored, I'm censoring it anyway so that the powers that be at Facebook don't give me das boot unnecessarily (go to twerking.com for the uncensored version). That said, these are three of my favorite people of all time ever: (from left) Andrew, Solie and Contessa aka Cuntmafia.
Rikki and Mark are giving the most major May-December relationship since Courtney Stodden & Doug Hutchison.
DANCE PARTY USA.
Loving so many things about this picture, especially the length of his sleeve.
I really hope this photo makes it onto the cover of a niche porn DVD in the near or distant future.
And then the real porn began.
Pretty sure that this one sandwiched in the middle between Aly and Andrew was 21 years old and straight and had never experienced anything on par to Good Times in his life. He also bears a striking resemblance to former Good Times frequenter David Davis.
I am sad that I haven't spent as much time on Fire Island with Jeff (right) or in clubs with Maddox (left) as I would have liked to this summer. But then again, there's always the autumn. And winter. And spring.
New York nightlife muse Jordan Fox (left) has been turning out the most mind-blowing looks ever since I first encountered him at another weekly I once did called Twin Cheeks. I am so happy to hear he is being flown to Japan or wherever nowadays so that the rest of the world can appreciate his talents.
Take it to the runway!
Sideline runway shows, courtesy of Contessa.
We actually thought Chaz (right, with Matt) had relocated to Berlin a long long time ago (he isn't on Facebook so we have a harder time stalking this one). Apparently we were wrong.
Daniel (left) and Max (right) headed straight from their flight from London to Good Times to have a drink or five with us. Later that week, they joined DJ Lina (pictured on Gabriel's shirt) out on Fire Island and pretty much gagged when they saw Gabriel wearing a Lina shirt.
Joey even had his own entourage in the DJ booth to keep things cunt as the night wore on.
Good Times staffers Rob (left) and Darren, who we hear is making a special circuit appearance in Ibiza later this month. Keep your eyes peeled!
Greg and upcoming guest Good Times DJ Sexy Mikey. That's right: he's finally putting his good tunes to use and will one day etch out a place for listenable music on the circuit.
The prettiness that is Ramon, Solie and Damian (from left). Pretty sure Damian convinced me to play my staple Oni Ayhun track, OAR003-B, which always gets Damian going on a tech house runway tip.
BOOT SHOWS, posted solely for the viewing pleasure of Michael T.
Santi is giving beard shows like none other this summer. I'll be giving DJ shows of my own at next week's Fourth Annual Nite of Deee Lite Good Times at Eastern Bloc, and then again on Sunday at Rich King's Sunday situation at The Monster.
Till then, thanks to everyone who came as well as DJ Will, Jeff Chatterton and Rod Thomas, who filled in for me while I was lost in Spain. See you next week! xo, Sparber
